Other planned events: Notice of Ongoing 1080 pest management ground baiting program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from Monday 20th May 2024 to Friday 15th November 2024. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of feral animals wild dogs and foxes.

The program will take place in Budawang National Park.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Termeil Beach car park closed for maintenance and repair

Termeil Beach car park will be closed from Monday 20 May to Monday 27 May 2024 while repair and maintenance works are undertaken.

 

Alternative access to Termeil Beach is available via Meroo Head campground.

Closed areas: Yadboro Road - 4wd Only

Yadboro Road, from its intersection with Clyde Ridge Road through to beyond Pigeon House Road junction in Morton National Park is open only to 4wd vehicles due to flood damage from 30 April to 28 May 2024. Areas affected include:

  • Pigeon House Walking Track & Picnic Area
  • Blue Gum Flat Camping Area
  • Long Gully Rest Area
  • The Castle Walking Track

Closed areas: Penance Grove Boardwalk & Walking Track Closed Permanently

Due to extensive damage to infrastructure and trees during the 2019/2020 fires, the Penance Grove Boardwalk and Walking Track have been permanently closed.  Any reference to these areas on third party websites is old content and now incorrect.  Due to the extent of damage and complete loss of all infrastructure, there are currently no plans to reinstate the area.

 

The Corn Trail walking track, Dasyurus picnic area and Mongarlowe River picnic area all remain available.

  • Murramarang National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees:

    $8 per vehicle per day. The park has pay machines - cash and credit cards accepted. Card only at Pretty Beach.
